"THE LOVE DRUG"

(Feb. 2011 Article)
“THE LOVE DRUG”

   Jesus loves me.

   How do I know?

Because He holds me when I’m down, blesses me in my need, covers me with His joy, and caresses me with His presence. He infiltrates my life with kindness, forgiveness and unexplainable compassion.

Being loved like this is so huge, so gigantic, that I can’t keep it to myself. The selfishness in me wants more and more.  It’s like an addictive drug…a “Love-Drug”.

Oh, how I love His ‘Love Drug’!

I ask Jesus, “When can I get my next ‘fix’ and what do I need to ‘pay’ to get more?”

I hear Him say, “You can get more anytime you want or need it.”

    “How?”

“By giving love away. Give My love away for free, Nancy, for that is how I gave it to you,” I hear Him say. “You will be giving them My love and providing for MY needs in this way. I’m in each one of those, Nancy. Love them and you are loving ME. Love and you will be given more than you, yourself, could ever need.”

Jesus wants me to be a ‘Love-Drug’ dealer!

How? How do I become a ‘dealer’ of Jesus’ very own love? By BEING love!

Love to the woman on oxygen in the grocery store, having just dropped groceries on the floor. Love to the two hungry men, having not eaten for three days. Love to the crying, scared little girl, needing a hug. Love to the man in the car behind me, needing to pass to get to the hospital to his sick wife. Love to the homeless man on the corner with a sign. Love to my husband, angry at his boss. THESE are the places to be a ‘Love-Drug Dealer’!

The compassion He has for every living, breathing human, astounds me. I’ve asked Him to show me how to love others by seeing them through His eyes…how HE sees them. Under the influence of His ‘Love Drug’ I see that there are no judgments towards others. No one is dirty. No one is ugly. No one is deformed or marred. No one is rich or poor. Seeing through the eyes of Jesus, all are beautiful, all are created-people needing love, mercy and compassion. Humans were created for Him to love. And He uses me to love them for Him; anyone, everyone, anywhere…one at a time.

All my life I have searched for this. All my life I have longed for this kind of love. I thank my God that He has given it to me! I take it…and then I can’t help myself…I HAVE TO GIVE IT BACK TO OTHERS! Jesus is in them, too. Loving THEM is loving my JESUS!

1John 4:15, 16 God stays one with everyone who openly says that Jesus is the Son of God. That's how we stay one with God and are sure that God loves us. God is love. If we keep on loving others, we will stay one in our hearts with God, and he will stay one with us.

John 15:12, 13  Now I tell you to love each other, as I have loved you.
The greatest way to show love for friends is to die for them.

Galatians 5:6 If you are a follower of Christ Jesus, it makes no difference whether you are circumcised or not. All that matters is your faith that makes you love others.

1 John 3:19 When we love others, we know that we belong to the truth, and we feel at ease in the presence of God.
